Sackville Street
The project involved the refurbishment of a Grade II listed Georgian property located on the west side of the street in the Mayfair Conservation Area. The property was constructed around 1732, and was listed in 1970. The building was described in the Survey of London, published in 1962.
The refurbishment provided office accommodation for an overseas financial services company.
The building is five stories high with a lower ground floor leading to a rear courtyard and glazed conservatory. The refurbishment and in some places restoration involved working closely with English Heritage and Westminster’s Listed building department.
The proposed works have been designed to take into account the significance of the history of the building and to preserve its architectural character, and in some instances reinstate the qualities of the original building, while at the same time modernising facilities which will enable the building to fulfil its contemporary function.
Internal works included the removal of ‘earlier modifications’ and the reinstatement of the traditional room plans with their timber panelling. External works included the cleaning of the brickwork and decoration.
